What is Wheel Bearing?
Wheel Bearing plays a central important role in accurate guidance to hub rotation and load-bearing from both axial and radial, because the entire weight of the vehicle rests on them and it can multiply when driving fast around the bend. Traditional wheel bearings are a group of two tapered roller bearings or two ball bearings. Modern wheel bearing, also known as wheel hub unit, evolves from the traditional standard angular contact ball bearings and tapered roller bearings by combining the two bearings in a compact unit. Now we have three generations of wheel bearings:
1st generation - These are compact bearing units of ball bearings or tapered roller bearings, economic and maintenance-free.
2nd generation - The wheel bearing unit is secured in the knuckle with a snap ring providing the axial retention of the bearing outer ring.
3rd generation - A highly integrated unit with flanges for the brake disc, wheel and knuckle which allow the highest possible running accuracy.
To ensure utmost safety, TINGJIN® Bearing suggests wheel bearings should be checked regularly no matter how long a vehicle runs. Pay particular attention to the early warnings, i.e. friction noise or abnormal speed reduction when driving around the bend. We suggest front axle wheel bearings should be lubricated after every 38 000 KM running especially for RWD cars.
